Fish Pedicures

We left Cabo Pulmo with a heavy heart, having loved our time there. Kimmie even came by in the morning to say goodbye. We drove the teeth jarring 6 miles of dirt and all remarked how we’d forgotten what asphalt felt like. The smooth road even made the van sound funny. Aside from a couple of oversized and overloaded vehicles threatening to overturn on the steep curves, our drive to Cabo San Lucas was uneventful. One of our favorite bellman, Manny, easily took care of all of our bags and held them so we could refill the van with Jenifer, Kevin and Eliza’s luggage; having traveled with Jenifer in the past I was aware it would be more than an overnight bag.  We then raced off to Mega, where we loaded up on beverages, fruit, water, yogurt and hotdogs for Miss Eliza, then made it to the airport to welcome the weary travelers to their vacation.

Next stop Zippers, where we ate fish tacos and watched Miss Eliza play on the beach. We negotiated for a couple of new straw hats, a jaunty short brim for Jenifer and a wide brimmed sun blocker for Steve. Bellies full and headgear covered we headed for Grand Solmar, where Miss Eliza immediately headed for the pool with her dad.

In typical fashion the whales have been cooperative, breaching and fluking in front of our place, and Kevin got some great photos. Usually by the time you get the camera ready they’ve moved on.

Miss Eliza is still on east coast time, and was up at a bright and early 4:30 AM Sunday morning, so Jenifer and Kevin took her for a long walk on the beach. She later got in a round of mini golf, and fell asleep in her mom’s arms at the vacation ownership presentation. None of us blamed her, envied her in fact, but the discounted massages will be worth the pain of the sales pitch.

We had a ladies spa afternoon, with manicures and pedicures, and Jenifer and I had the new experience of the fish pedicure, where our feet were immersed in a tank of small Garra Rufa fish. Since she’d recently had a pedi the fish were not all that interested in her, but my feet, after 2 weeks on the beach and walking on stone floors needed exfoliation badly; those these little guys thought it was Thanksgiving.
Eliza and Jenifer got matching nail and toe colors, a fetching orange with a green accent nail for St. Patrick’s Day.

After a big day it was pizza for our princess, and an early bedtime, so the rest of the crew got room service which allowed Jenifer and I to do girl-time sushi at my favorite sushi restaurant, Nick-San. It felt like the old days!

Today we’re off to the glass bottom boat to see the fish and the sea lions, and perhaps a swim on Medano Beach. I’ll be uploading some pictures, but here are a few to whet your appetite.

¡Feliz Día del St Patrick
