Little Mermaid

As a gift for sitting through an excruciating timeshare, oh – excuse me – premier vacation ownership presentation, we are able to get discounts like reduced priced spa services and 15% off food and beverage at the restaurants (though sadly not at the swim-up bars). So yesterday Jenifer and I enjoyed our hard earned perks at the beach cabana spa with side-by-side outdoor massages.  As the surf pounded, the sun shone, the gentle breezes blew and the masseuses began their tender mercies on our backs I heard Jenifer say, “I’m beginning to forgive that timeshare salesperson.”  I used to have knots the size of a medieval mace under my shoulder blades, and every masseuse would spend an inordinate amount of time on that area. Funny that since retirement, well, not so much.

We showered and headed to join Kevin and Eliza at the sunset pool, and swam over to a swim up booth to grab lunch. While we waited we enjoyed our Meyers & Pineapple, Chi-Chis and Mai Tais (the drink of the day) and took underwater photos of our little fish in her Ariel (Little Mermaid) bathing suit and her Bling 2 O goggles. Lots of compliments on those goggles. She met a little girl named Charlotte and they tore up the pool together.

Back at the ranch Steve and Eliza had a lengthy game of catch in our room using a balled up pair of socks. Jenifer and I sat on the patio listening to her peals of laughter. Who knew socks could be so much fun?

Mary Ellen, who had suffered for 3 days with Montezuma’s Revenge, Mummy Tummy, or as the CDC likes to refer to it, TD, was finally better after a course of cipro and able to rejoin the living. Having eaten nothing but saltines and ginger ale she was ready for some real food, so we had a girl’s night out and returned to Nick-San which is now Jenifer’s favorite sushi restaurant as well. Mary stuck with cooked; veggie and shrimp tempura with a ginger ale, but Jenifer and I did our sashimi cilantro, tuna black and white, and sashimi serranito again, adding in the spinach wraps and clear lobster roll. And Martinis. And we did bring sushi home for the guys.

So Jenifer and I had an after dinner Licor 43, a fabulous Spanish liqueur made from 43 secret ingredients (tastes like vanilla to us, but I’ll take their word) on the patio. Another beautiful day and night, and sadly we must bring them to the airport this morning. It will be very quiet here without our little princess!

Buen viaje Jenifer, Kevin and Eliza!
